Engine Assessments
Help for Windows and Macintosh
Chess engines assess positions numerically. Chess Openings Wizard refers to engine evaluations as numeric assessments.
Numeric assessments are expressed in centipawns which means 100 points for the worth of a pawn. For example if the engine calculates that White is up a pawn, it will assess the position with a number around 100.
Similarly if Black is ahead, the engine will assess it with a negative number. Black up a pawn will have an assessment of around -100.
