What is a leaf node?
Help for Windows and Macintosh
A leaf node is the final position in any variation. It is any position that has no candidate moves.
The backsolving process uses the value (Informant rate symbol or numeric assessment from a chess engine) to solve the value of all positions leading up to each leaf node.
