ECO: A
This is the Dutch Defense, played by attackers such as Tal, but also
Botvinnik. Mikhail Gurevich is a top grandmaster who uses the Dutch as his
main defense.
White may sacrifice a pawn with the Staunton Gambit, but the positional
move 2.g3 is more popular. The counter-fianchetto (...b6) is thereby
eliminated and Black is somewhat cramped.
