Re: Count of positions
I think you are still thinking that the number of variations has something to do with now many moves are left in the variation. It's only job is to tell you if there are multiple variations in the future. If there are not multiple variations in the future, then it is blank. It doesn't make any sens...

Re: Feature Request: Multipv analysis
Have you considered why it only shows a single variation in the positions where it does this? Here. https://i.imgur.com/qtS1MLN.png Without multipv from the engine, the analysis is only made up of principal variations. True. If(!) COW shows a second variation, it's because it was a principle variat...

Re: Count of positions
That is correct. As I've said in most of the comments to this thread, when it comes down to one variation there is no point in showing the '1' so it isn't displayed. There is point in 1, the user will be informed that there is 1 left when a candidate move is played on the board. You can even add ze...

Re: Feature Request: Multipv analysis
There's a difference between "show me the top K legal moves regardless of whether they are boneheaded" and "show me the two most likely continuations even if they start with the same move." COW does the latter. COW does not show it supports multipv even the latter. I already tri...

Re: Count of positions
If the candidate move is the last move then there will no longer be a variation after making that candidate move on the board. Every variation... ends. That fact that you're near the end of a variation has nothing to do with the fact that you're following a variation. In your example, the variation...

Re: Feature Request: Multipv analysis
Everything you said holds true for the way COW does Multipv analysis currently and for the way chess engines do Multipv analysis except that engines (in that mode) are required to report other really bad moves if there is only one reasonable move. COW doesn't do that. In that case COW is not doing ...

Re: Count of positions
Let me try to clarify something. There is no such thing as a candidate move with zero variations. What I tried to imply is that a candidate move with zero variation behind it. See img2 and img3 from my previous post. When you see 3 beside a candidate move, that means there are 3 variations after or...

Re: Feature Request: Multipv analysis
The idea behind multipv is that the user may understand the position better. He will see direct specific replies from different pv moves of the position. By following the analysis of those lines his learning will be improved. Even if one or more of the pv moves are not optimal he will be able to see...

Re: Count of positions
1. When there is no variation left, COW does not display any number, just blank. 2. When there is only 1 variation left, COW does not display any number just blank. So what I want is for COW to display 1 for one variation and 0 for zero variation, so that the user would know even before the move is ...
