Is Stockfish 10 64 bit an optimist?
I was analyzing in COW Professional, build 92, with the latest version of SF. In particular, I was looking at the MacCutcheon French with 5Ne2. It may not be the best move, but looks to provide more fluid play than other moves. I followed SF's suggestions for a few moves. When it is white to move, it really likes white. When it is black to move, white has nothing.

You can disable such behavior by turning off Analysis Contempt.FreeRepublic wrote:I was analyzing in COW Professional, build 92, with the latest version of SF. This is a serious problem I would think. Why would an engine have a contempt factor enabled during analysis?

I just ran across an article on "contempt" in this context. It's a way to maintain more play in the position:MikeAtBookup wrote:This is a serious problem I would think. Why would an engine have a contempt factor enabled during analysis?
