This is the Sicilian Defense, the most popular answer to 1.e4, and
known for its fighting qualities. Fischer and Kasparov are among its
adherents, and virtually all of the young stars such as Kramnik, Kamsky,
Anand, Shirov, and Polgar have it in their repertoire.
White must choose between the straightforward 2.Nf3 and 3.d4, opening
the center, and a number of lesser options.
